An accessible and supportive narrative game designed to raise awareness among women and their loved ones about (peri-)menopause
Menopause is a physiological process marking the end of a woman’s reproductive years, typically occurring between the ages of 45 and 55. It is accompanied by a drop in estrogen levels, leading to various physical and psychological symptoms: hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, chronic fatigue, mood swings, anxiety, decreased libido, joint pain, weight gain, and decreased bone density.
Beyond the medical aspects, it also has social and professional implications: lack of recognition, stigma, isolation, and sometimes a loss of confidence or absenteeism.
The proposed solution is a narrative game in the form of an interactive house, in which each room covers a specific aspect of menopause, such as nutrition and metabolic health, sexuality and intimacy, sleep and rest, mental health, vasomotor symptoms, and cognitive symptoms. The main feature is the creation of interactive quizzes with immediate feedback. The game begins with a guide describing various aspects of menopause, such as diagnosis, effects, solutions, and more. It is intended for people who are already going through menopause or for those who want to learn more about this process and help break the taboo surrounding it.
“Menopause and perimenopause are not just medical issues, but human experiences that deserve to be understood, acknowledged, and supported.”
