Crohn’s disease is a chronic intestinal disease that causes inflammation and pain in various parts of the digestive tract. It manifests itself through periods of flare-ups (with intense symptoms) and remission (with few or no symptoms). Symptoms, which can include abdominal pain, frequent diarrhea and persistent fatigue, impact daily life and can make certain activities difficult.
In Switzerland, around 25,000 people suffer from Crohn’s disease. This represents around 0.3% of the population. Even with effective treatment, living with a chronic disease remains a daily challenge. Severely affected patients are more likely to declare themselves unable to work, and children may see their school performance decline due to fatigue or repeated absences.
The solution proposed in this project is a chat bot (AI)-centric application, featuring an illustrated article section for the most requested topics. The content is focused on day-to-day disease and symptom management, and comes from verified, scientific sources.
